The New Playbook: Why Empathy Belongs in Sports
In the sports industry, there is an outdated belief that to get ahead, you have to be cutthroat. We are often told to choose: be a shark or be soft.
I refuse to choose. I believe we can rewrite that narrative.
As I navigate my career, I am guided by a specific mission:
My mission:
"I am committed to building a career in sports
defined by passion, results, and respect. My
mission is to work harder every day to prove I
a place in this arena, while maintaining a
spirit of kindness that empowers other women to
enter this field with the confidence and
knowledge that high achievement and genuine
empathy goes hand-in-hand."
For me, this comes down to three non-negotiables:
Results First: I am here to work. I respect this industry enough to bring my best effort every single day.
Kindness as Strength: Empathy is not a weakness; it is a competitive advantage in building strong teams and culture.
Empowering Women: Success isn’t a zero-sum game. I am committed to holding the door open for the women coming up behind me, proving that there is space and community for all of us to work together.
We can be fierce competitors and kind colleagues. Let’s redefine what it looks like to win.
Women in sports should have a mission of wanting to accomplish great things, no matter what stands in their way.
